Autoconf urgle

Hmm. I hadn’t factored this into the equation, but now I have my nice, relatively flat directory structure (two sub-directories, include and src), autoconf causes Make to build all those .o files in my top-level directory, which is not where I want them. Ideally I want them either under a single object files directory or under something less generic, like “Debug/*.o” and “Release/*.o”.

Damn if the info pages aren’t a pain in the ass to work with too. Between reading the info pages and googling I’ve wasted nearly an hour on this seemingly thing…

Ok – I found a way to do it, although it’s a bit icky.

$ aclocal && autoconf && libtoolize -f --force
$ automake -a --foreign
$ cd build
$ ../configure
