Stargate upset at Sci-Fi?

Midway thru tonight’s episode (“Family Ties”) there is a little conversation between Vala’s father and Cmdr Carter, that seems to hint to a little disgruntlement at the Sci-Fi channel that might explain why recent episodes have been standard faire rather than the culmination of such a long-in-the-tooth series.

Jasec: I don’t mind telling you I’m a bit dissapointed in this facility. I was expecting more.

Carter: Well, at times, so do we. But the truth is the Stargate program just doesn’t get the support it used to from the people in charge.

Jasec:  Why not?

Dr Lee: Eureaka, [… mumbo jumbo …]

Jasec: Uh, that’s too bad, because, after all your Stargate program has accomplished for this network of planets, I’d think the decision makers would show it the respect it deserves. (emphasis mine)

I’m guessing that Sci-Fi wants to protect the return its been getting on its investment as the show winds down, especially as it closes; the cast and crew probably feel that they’ve earned the right to burn some of the fat for the fans and were frustrated to have their plans for big inter-galactic battles with solar systems exploring and cool weapons and fx turned down…

I was having a wtf moment. If anything it would increase sales of the season finale volume.

They’re going to make two sg-1 movies too about the ori war.

Ya know…now that BSG has announced this next season will be its last, me thinks Sci-fi is kinda regretting letting go of SG-1 considering the producers of SG-1, the crew and most of the cast would be willing to go on for as long as they could. And IT…only the first of the two Direct-to-DVD movies will be about the Ori War, tying that up (and bring back Morena Baccarin…yum!). The second one is a stand-alone (complex? :-) movie. Who knows, if those SG-1 movies do well enough, Sci-Fi just might bring back the series post-BSG finale.

The first line of the show was also a clue. “They canceled it? I didn’t even know it was back on.”

And the last. “Vagina, vagina, vagina.”

MMmmmm…. Morena….
