Star Wars has an overseeing entity known as the Holocron which dictates all official cannon. I doubt Bioware has been given any wiggle room outside of sticking to what is known about Alderaan. Off the top of my head, I don’t believe we actually visited the planet in episodes 1-3, but of course that is where Leia is sent after birth.
alderaan is seen in the last minutes of episode III.
and of corse in episode IV when it goes pop :D
